Canacol Energy alcanza récord en ventas de gas natural

Canacol Energy anunció que el 24 de agosto de 2019 logró ventas récord de gas natural de 217 millones de pies cúbicos estándar por día (MMpcsd) (38.070 barriles de crudo equivalente por día).

26 de agosto de 2019.   Este nivel de ventas en parte se logró con la recientemente anunciada finalización de la expansión del gasoducto desde las facilidades de procesamiento de gas de la Corporación ubicadas en Jobo y la ciudad de Cartagena a finales de julio de 2019.

Las ventas promedio de gas durante el mes de julio de 2019, anterior a la finalización de la expansión del gasoducto entre Jobo y Cartagena fueron de aproximadamente 122 MMpcsd. El promedio de las ventas de gas durante los primeros 15 días de agosto de 2019 fue de aproximadamente 151 mmpcsd, ya que la capacidad de la nueva expansión llego gradualmente hasta el nivel de ventas de gas de 217 MMpcsd.

Canacol espera mantener un nivel promedio de ventas de gas de aproximadamente 215 MMpcsd durante lo que resta de 2019. Charle Gamba, Presidente y CEO de Canacol, dijo que “estamos muy contentos de haber logrado este nivel histórico de ventas de gas que posiciona a la Corporación como el mayor productor independiente de gas natural en Colombia.

“Hemos demostrado cómo la declinación de producción de gas en Colombia puede ser reversada con la combinación de exploración y la construcción de nueva infraestructura de transporte de gas. Los niveles de producción de nuestros campos han sobrepasado y están reemplazando la producción de los campos de La Guajira.

“La exploración y producción de los significativos recursos de gas convencional y no convencional costa adentro y costa afuera, junto con la construcción de nueva infraestructura de transporte de gas, son la clave para asegurar la autosuficiencia energética de Colombia, evitando así el costoso escenario de importar gas natural licuado a altos precios de países extranjeros.

“Con esto en mente, nos enfocaremos ahora en la construcción de un nuevo gasoducto para transportar 100 MMpcsd de gas hacia Medellín, la segunda ciudad más grande de Colombia ubicada aproximadamente a 300 kilómetros al sur de Jobo, para finales del 2022. Con este objetivo, estamos negociando un acuerdo con Empresas Públicas de Medellín para un contrato de ventas de gas “take or pay” a 10 años que utilizará este nuevo gasoducto para entregarles gas en Medellín”.
