Ecopetrol, la petrolera de mayoría estatal, informó que el pozo exploratorio Liria YW12, ubicado en el municipio de Aguazul, Casanare, confirmó la presencia de gas y petróleo liviano de 49 grados API.
8 de noviembre de 2021. El pozo exploratorio es propiedad total de Ecopetrol y, según la empresa, marca el inicio de un nuevo campo de hidrocarburos en esta zona del piedemonte llanero.
Como parte de esta campaña, la empresa prevé perforar otro pozo delimitador en el área y, de ser exitoso, declarar la comercialidad en el corto plazo de un nuevo campo llamado Recetor West, mientras se avanza en la definición de la magnitud del hallazgo.
Al respecto, Luz Stella Murgas, presidente de la Asociación Colombiana de Gas Natural (Naturgas), dijo que “con este hallazgo se confirma que Colombia tiene potencial de gas natural en el subsuelo continental. El Piedemonte Llanero es una zona rica en gas, donde estimamos que puede haber un potencial de recursos entre 3 y 10 terapies cúbicos, equivalente a multiplicar hasta por tres veces las reservas probadas actuales.
“El gas natural asegurará la transición energética en la medida que es un combustible limpio que dará confiabilidad al sistema ante la intermitencia de las energías renovables.
“Debemos concentrar nuestros esfuerzos en impulsar la exploración en áreas continentales y en el mar Caribe para contribuir a la descarbonización del sector transporte, industrias y la generación eléctrica.”
