Con la iniciativa, Golar Power busca ampliar la participación del GNL de origen local en su oferta y acelerar la transición energética brasileña: de diésel, GLP o fueloil pesado a gas natural.
2 de julio de 2020. Golar Power, una de las mayores empresas globales en la operación integral de gas natural licuado (GNL), acordó una alianza estratégica con Galileo Technologies, que proveerá su set de Soluciones Gas 3.0: Acondicionamiento de Gas, Producción Distribuida de GNL, Surtidores de GNL y Plantas Regasificadoras.
El ambicioso objetivo se da en el marco del programa nacional Novo Mercado de Gas, que tiene en cuenta que el GNL es un combustible económico y de reducida huella de carbono. Sin embargo, el acuerdo de ambas compañías procura ir hacia la etapa máxima de la transición energética desde el primer día: la producción de bio-GNL.
Los proyectos iniciales solicitados por Golar Power a Galileo involucran la provisión de dos clusters de micro-LNG. El primero estará compuesto por dos Estaciones Cryobox de producción de GNL que, conectadas a una planta ZPTS de acondicionamiento de gas, producirán 30 toneladas diarias de GNL en un pozo maduro en el Estado de Bahía.
El segundo cluster se instalará en San Pablo para capturar y licuar biometano proveniente del relleno sanitario. El mismo estará integrado por una Estación Cryobox, que tendrá capacidad para proveer hasta 15 toneladas diarias de Bio-GNL.
“Con la alianza con Galileo, vamos a sumar al Bio-GNL a nuestro portfolio y al gas doméstico licuado, ofreciendo a la población alternativas más baratas y limpias que los combustibles tradicionales”, dijo Marcelo Rodrigues, vice-presidente de Golar Power.
A través de ambas soluciones de micro-LNG, Golar Power aprovechará gas brasileño que está fuera del sistema para volcarlo a su comercialización como combustible líquido. Una vez distribuido a través de la red vial, el GNL podrá alimentar a centrales de generación eléctrica, distribuidoras de gas natural, industrias y vehículos livianos y pesados.
“A diferencia de las tecnologías de generaciones anteriores, nuestras tecnologías de tratamiento y licuefacción de gas, se adaptan a la escala de las fuentes dispersas de metano, que frecuentemente también son las más cercanas a los consumidores. Por eso, fueron desarrolladas para la producción distribuida de GNL”, señaló Horacio Andrés, vicepresidente de la subsidiaria de Galileo Technologies en Brasil.
“Las soluciones desarrolladas por Galileo permiten escalar la capacidad instalada por medio de módulos, lo que nos ayudará a atender el crecimiento de la demanda con flexibilidad y a complementar nuestros proyectos y tecnologías de small-scale LNG”, amplió Rodrigues.
Al distribuir GNL a través de la red vial, Golar Power superará los límites de la infraestructura: Brasil tiene solamente 9.409 kilómetros de gasoductos.
“Apenas 5% de los municipios brasileños son atendidos por gasoductos. Nuestro desafío es que el gas natural llegue a esas localidades y por ello apostamos al GNL para distribuirlo en pequeña escala”, concluyó Rodrigues.
La explotación de nuevas fuentes de gas brasileño también estará acompañada por nuevas alternativas para consumirlo. Golar Power instalará los surtidores de GNL de Galileo en las estaciones de la red BR para establecer Corredores Verdes, la definición brasileña de los Corredores Azules, en los que los camioneros podrán optar por la carga de GNL.
A los clientes industriales se les proveerá sistemas de almacenamiento y de plantas regasificadoras para facilitar el consumo de gas en hornos, motores y turbinas.
