La Alcaldía de Medellín dispuso recursos por $58.000 millones para el convenio de subsidio a la conexión al gas natural domiciliario, que estará vigente durante el actual cuatrienio

21 de febrero de 2020.   Noventa mil hogares de los estratos 1, 2 y 3 de la capital antioqueña podrán conectarse al servicio de gas natural con subsidio, gracias al convenio firmado entre la Alcaldía de Medellín y Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM).

El alcalde de Medellín, Daniel Quintero Calle, quien suscribió el acuerdo con el Gerente General de EPM, Álvaro Guillermo Rendón López, indicó que el propósito es que la gente optimice los gastos del hogar.

Por su parte, Carlos Orduz Aguilar, vicepresidente de Gas EPM, afirmó que los gastos de conexión de la acometida (conexión de la red principal de gas a la residencia) los asume el Municipio a través de este convenio, con un valor que oscila entre $600.000 y $700.000. A su vez, la red interna de gas correrá por cuenta del usuario. “Esta conexión la puede financiar a largo plazo a través de la factura de EPM”, explicó el directivo.

“El gas que los usuarios compren a EPM puede representar un ahorro en las finanzas del hogar entre el 40% y el 60%, dependiendo del estrato”, sostuvo Orduz.

Para el 2020 EPM cuenta con un presupuesto de $16.000 millones para inversión y vinculación de nuevos clientes, lo que permitirá conectar el servicio a más familias.

El Alcalde de Medellín indicó además que se tiene toda una apuesta por la movilidad con gas natural vehicular en la ciudad: “Vamos a ampliar el número de carros a gas, camiones y volquetas a gas, en un trabajo en el que EPM nos va ayudar para que Medellín se convierta en una Ecociudad”.

Para acceder al beneficio la familia debe vivir en Medellín y pertenecer a los estratos 1, 2 y 3. Además, las viviendas deben estar en áreas de cobertura del servicio de gas natural domiciliario.
