SierraCol Energy comienza a operar campos adquiridos a Occidental

SierraCol se proyecta como uno de los líderes independientes de exploración y producción petrolera de Colombia. En 2021 invertirá alrededor de 120 millones de dólares en sus operaciones en el país.

18 de diciembre de 2020.   La empresa petrolera SierraCol Energy, perteneciente al Grupo Carlyle, asumirá, a partir de la fecha, las operaciones e intereses sobre los activos adquiridos a Occidental en Colombia. Así lo anunció Tony Hayward, presidente Ejecutivo de SierraCol. 

Tal como se anunció el pasado 1º de octubre, Occidental Petroleum Corporation vendió todos sus activos en tierra en Colombia, que en la actualidad aportan una producción, conjuntamente con sus socios, de alrededor de 85.000 barriles de petróleo por día.

SierraCol, que tendrá sus oficinas principales en Bogotá, realizará, en 2021, una inversión de alrededor de US$120 millones en sus activos de exploración y producción, en las cuencas de Llanos, Magdalena Medio y Putumayo. A partir de la fecha se iniciarán los trámites pertinentes para formalizar el cambio de nombre de las entidades que hacen parte de SierraCol.

“Hoy comienza una nueva etapa en las operaciones con los activos adquiridos a Occidental en Colombia. SierraCol es la nueva organización que se apalancará en el talento y las enormes capacidades profesionales del equipo humano para ser exitosa en Colombia, y para proyectar también su crecimiento hacia otros países de Latinoamérica”, afirmó Hayward, y añadió que “el nombre de esta empresa fue inspirado en la geografía de Colombia y su logotipo tiene los colores de la bandera nacional, demostrando así su motivación de continuar siendo protagonista en el sector de la energía en Colombia”.

Al conservar al equipo humano que Occidental tenía en el país, SierraCol seguirá siendo un operador comprometido con Colombia, seguro y confiable, reconocido por su integridad y por trabajar con los más altos estándares de seguridad industrial y de responsabilidad social y ambiental.

Hayward anunció además el nombre del nuevo presidente y CEO de SierraCol: Bernardo Ortiz, quien ha tenido una destacada carrera en altas posiciones durante más de 15 años con Occidental, tanto en Colombia como a nivel internacional.

“Construiremos progreso sobre el éxito y liderazgo que nos deja Occidental como legado”, puntualizó Hayward en una reunión con los empleados, a quienes invitó a conservar las buenas prácticas que hasta hoy los han caracterizado, y a continuar aportando todo su profesionalismo y compromiso para que la historia que comenzará a escribir SierraCol Energy sea excepcional.
