Colombia avanza en la regulación del GLP para transporte terrestre y fluvial

El Ministerio de Minas y Energía definió los requisitos mínimos que deben cumplir los agentes para que el Gas Licuado del Petróleo pueda ser usado en Colombia en medios de transporte terrestres y fluviales (AutoGLP y NautiGLP).

26 de noviembre de 2020.   El Ministerio de Minas y Energía definió los requisitos mínimos que deberán cumplir los comercializadores mayoristas, distribuidores y estaciones de servicio interesados en vender Gas Licuado del Petróleo (GLP) como combustible para medios de transporte terrestres y fluviales (AutoGLP y NautiGLP) en Colombia. 

Los comercializadores mayoristas, distribuidores y estaciones de servicio de AutoGLP y NautiGLP deberán contar con un Contrato de Suministro Firme, reportar oportunamente la información solicitada al Ministerio de Minas y Energía y llevar a cabo todas las acciones necesarias para garantizar la continuidad de la prestación del servicio de distribución de estos combustibles. 

Adicionalmente, las estaciones de servicio de AutoGLP y NautiGLP interesadas en iniciar operaciones, deberán tramitar las correspondientes licencias, permisos y/o autorizaciones urbanísticas y ambientales ante las autoridades competentes.  

«En julio pasado catalogamos al GLP como un energético de bajas emisiones, por lo que se convierte en una alternativa adicional de combustible amigable con el medio ambiente que podrán tener los colombianos para un transporte sostenible y más limpio en el país», aseguró el viceministro de Energía, Miguel Lotero.

Este combustible reduce las emisiones de CO2 en 21% y el número de partículas en un 81% frente a la gasolina, de acuerdo con estudios realizados por la Asociación Mundial de GLP (WLPGA, por su sigla en ingles). 

En cuanto a la conversión de un vehículo para usar AutoGLP, el costo es económico y el tanque que debe ser instalado ocupa menos espacio y tiene un menor peso. Además, por sus propiedades físicas, el GLP es muy fácil de transportar, lo que permite que sea usado en cualquier zona del país.

Para que el uso del AutoGLP y NautiGLP pueda ser una realidad en Colombia, el Ministerio de Minas y Energía continúa trabajando en las especificaciones y requisitos técnicos que deberán cumplir las estaciones de servicio para la comercialización de AutoGLP y NautiGLP, así como la reglamentación sobre la calidad del GLP para uso vehicular.
