15 de septiembre de 2021.   La empresa energética Lipigas y HAM Chile inauguraron la primera estación de servicio de gas natural licuado (GNL) de Chile. La nueva gasinera, que incorpora las últimas innovaciones en este tipo de instalaciones, se ubica en las dependencias de Transportes San Gabriel, Linares, Región del Maule, muy cerca de la Ruta Cinco Sur (Carretera Panamericana en Chile), que forma parte de la principal arteria de comunicación terrestre del país.

Este proyecto fue posible gracias a Lipigas, Transportes San Gabriel y la multinacional AB InBev, empresa que incorporará a su flota 35 camiones a GNL, que repostarán en la nueva estación, lo que contribuirá a una reducción de más de 800 toneladas anuales de emisiones de CO2 y una reducción del 80% de partículas finas.

“El gas natural licuado es una opción real para la disminución de CO2 en el transporte pesado de larga distancia. Se contribuye así al desarrollo sostenible, con el diseño de soluciones energéticas eficientes que ayudan a enfrentar el desafío de reducir las emisiones al medio ambiente”, dijo Esteban Rodríguez, gerente de Negocio de Lipigas.

El ministro de Minería y Energía, Juan Carlos Jobet, también comentó: “El transporte de carga es responsable del 11% de los gases de efecto invernadero de nuestro país. La estrategia de Chile para ser carbono neutrales a 2050 busca dejar atrás el uso de combustibles fósiles en los vehículos de carga. Por eso es importante que cada vez más compañías se comprometan con el proceso, donde el gas natural es hoy un aporte, pues se considera un combustible de transición que contamina menos que el petróleo”.
