Mayo 9 de 2018.   Volkswagen planea optimizar su gama de modelos con un innovador abanico de sistemas de propulsión completamente nuevos, incluyendo el que es actualmente el motor a gas natural (GNV) más avanzado del mundo, lo que le permitirá, entre otras cosas, cumplir con el objetivo de emisiones de flotas de CO2 de 95 g/km de la UE a partir de 2020.

El fabricante hizo el anuncio durante el Vienna Motor Symposium. En la capital de Austria presentó el nuevo motor a gas natural 1.5 TGI Evo (EA211 Evo). Con inyector directo de 1.5 litros, equipado con inducción forzada VTG (turbocompresores de última generación con geometría de turbina variable), está basado en el motor 1.5 TSI ACT BlueMotion1/2/3/4.

Para Volkswagen, el motor 1.5 TGI Evo es una pieza clave en su campaña de GNV y su objetivo declarado de aumentar aún más el volumen de motores a gas que funcionan de manera eficiente y, en gran medida, sin generar emisiones de partículas.

En el mercado alemán estos motores ya representan el tipo de propulsión con mayor crecimiento. Además, los motores TGI a GNV pueden operar con e-gas: biometano obtenido de procesos de biomasa.

La producción del 1.5 TGI Evo comenzará este año. Con un consumo medio estimado de 3,5 kg/100 km (GNV) en el actual Golf 5/6 y con caja de cambios de doble embrague (DSG), el ágil motor turboalimentado será tan eficiente como rentable de operar. Brindará una autonomía de 490 km en modo GNV y, gracias al cambio automático al modo gasolina, tendrá 190 km adicionales.
