Ecopetrol anunció tres descubrimientos de petróleo en Colombia

28 de febrero.     ECOPETROL confirma la presencia de hidrocarburos en tres pozos en el territorio nacional dentro de las operaciones conjuntas que lleva a Cabo Occidental (OXY) en los departamentos colombianos de Arauca y Santander.

En Santander, el descubrimiento se realizó en el pozo Infantas Oriente-1 a una profundidad aproximada de 600 metros, con presencia de crudo en un espesor de 15 metros. En las pruebas, el pozo con más de 250 barriles por día de un petróleo liviano, de 33 grados API.

El campo La Cira-Infantas, ubicado en la zona donde se inició la industria de la industria del petróleo en Colombia hace un siglo, ha incrementado significativamente su producción en los últimos doce años, al pasar de 5 mil barriles por día en 2005 a 45 mil barriles por día en la actualidad, lo que se convierte en uno de los cinco campos más importantes del país.

En Arauca, los pozos que confirmaron la presencia del crudo son Cosecha V-01 y REX NE-01ST2, situados en el municipio de Arauquita.

El descubrimiento en el pozo Cosecha V-01 se registró cerca de los 2.600 metros de profundidad, en intervalos de areniscas petrolíferas de la formación Carbonera Inferior, con un espesor aproximado de 4 metros de crudo liviano, de 31 grados API. En las pruebas, el pozo reportó una producción de 600 barriles de petróleo promedio día.

Por su parte, en el pozo REX NE-01ST2 la presencia de crudo se identificó a una profundidad de 2.500 metros con un espesor aproximado de 20 metros de saturación de petróleo. En la actualidad, el pozo se encuentra en un promedio de 2.000 barriles por día de petróleo con gravedad de 35 grados API.

El crudo se caracteriza por tener una mayor valorización en el mercado internacional y por su facilidad para el transporte. También es clave para equilibrar la carga de la refinería de Barrancabermeja, que se encuentra a menos de 25 kilómetros de distancia del pozo Infantas Oriente-1, lo que permite acelerar la etapa de producción de este descubrimiento.
