Continúa la consolidación del GNV en Colombia. El segmento de transporte de carga a gas natural sigue derribando mitos sobre su desempeño y rendimiento.

27 de agosto de 2019.   Con la llegada de 15 mini mulas, que utilizan de manera exclusiva gas natural como combustible, se consolida la operación de carga pesada a gas más grande que hasta el momento se ejecuta en Colombia.

Esto demuestra la gran apuesta del sector del gas natural en el país andino por brindar alternativas de transporte limpias y eficientes en sus diferentes segmentos, pues no solo se cuenta ya con más de 230 mil unidades de vehículos livianos funcionando con gas natural vehicular (GNV) a nivel nacional, sino que también se superaron los 1.500 vehículos dedicados a gas natural en transporte público de pasajeros, camiones, volquetas y recolectores de basura.

La entrada en operación de las mini mulas se logró gracias al esfuerzo de las empresas Gases de Occidente, Vanti, Ecopetrol y la Transportadora de Gas Internacional (TGI), aliados de la transportadora OPL Carga en este proyecto.

“En el segmento de transporte de carga, el gas natural sigue derribando mitos sobre su desempeño y rendimiento. Esta tecnología ofrece beneficios tangibles frente al diésel, como ahorros del orden del 30%, impactos ambientales positivos en la reducción de las emisiones de CO2 y material particulado fino, y una disminución de ruido frente a los automotores de combustible tradicional”, expresó el gerente General de Gases de Occidente, Mauricio Ramírez Terrassa.

Las mini mulas a gas natural marca FAW, representada en Colombia por Arintia Group, que soportan una carga aproximada de 18 toneladas y que operan motores dedicados a gas natural, se suman a la flota de la empresa de transporte OPL Carga, que desde hace más de un año viene operando cinco vehículos de similares características, cuando en alianza con Promigas dieron inicio al primer proyecto de transporte de carga verde en Colombia. De manera exitosa han recorrido más de 350 mil kilómetros y remplazado más de 50 mil galones de diésel, logrando movilizar aproximadamente 8.400 toneladas de mercancía.

Las mini mulas realizarán el recorrido entre Buenaventura y Bogotá, cubriendo las topografías más complejas en Colombia, logrando ascensos de 3.200 metros sobre el nivel del mar y recorriendo distancias superiores a los 500 km.  Esta ruta, al igual que las más importantes del país, tiene garantizada la oferta de GNV para vehículos de recorrido intermunicipal.  Con la red de cerca de 800 estaciones de servicio en Colombia, es posible encontrar un punto de abastecimiento en promedio cada 200Km.

Edgardo Espinosa, vicepresidente de Licitaciones y Contratos de OPL Carga, afirmó que “este proyecto representa la llegada de una flota de mini mulas a gas natural, enmarcada en la innovación, el conocimiento adquirido en los primeros proyectos, el desarrollo sostenible de sus operaciones que reducen considerablemente las emisiones globales, así como la respuesta al llamado realizado por los generadores de carga que están pidiendo este servicio”.

Por su parte, Rodolfo Anaya, presidente de Vanti, indicó que “este proyecto con la empresa OPL Carga y Promigas se enmarca en los objetivos de crecimiento y desarrollo sostenible de la empresa. Lo apoyamos desde diferentes frentes y lo respaldamos con operaciones que permiten distribuir el combustible a más de 195 estaciones de servicio de gas natural en su zona de influencia y con nuestra red propia de 78 estaciones, para la operativa y suministro de este propósito”.
